Accepting new clients · Teens, adults and couples

Maybe something’s changed: a loss, a big transition, or a version of yourself you don’t quite recognize. Or maybe nothing’s changed in a long time, and that’s what’s wearing on you. I work with adults, couples, and teens. You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong, or have the right words for it, before it’s worth talking about.

What you’re carrying isn’t new to me, and you don’t have to carry it by yourself anymore.

This isn’t new territory. Between hospices and community counselling in Scotland, and private practice here in Nova Scotia, I’ve sat with people through some of the hardest parts of their lives. That’s exactly why every session stays grounded enough to go near the hard stuff, together, at a pace you set.

Wherever you’re starting from, the goal is the same: helping you feel more like yourself again. Whether it’s grief, worry that follows you around, days that feel heavier than they should, or just not recognizing the person you’ve become, we’ll find the way that fits you. Sometimes that means working through what happened without reliving every detail. Sometimes it’s building a life around what matters, even while the hard stuff is still there.

If it’s the distance that’s crept in between you and your partner, we work on that together too.

What the first session is like

We talk. You tell me what’s going on and what you’d like to be different, and I’ll share what I’m noticing as we go. If you’re coming in as a couple, you both get room to speak. By the second session we’ll have a plan we built together, and we’ll look at it again every few sessions.
