This policy explains what personal and health information Current Health Collective collects, why we collect it, and how it’s protected. It applies to clients, prospective clients, and anyone who contacts us through this website.
What you share with us, whether in a session or through this website, is kept confidential, stored securely in Canada, and used only to provide and manage your care. We don’t sell or share your information for marketing purposes. There are a small number of legal exceptions to confidentiality, described below.
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect: your name and contact information; information you submit through our website’s contact or booking forms; clinical information related to your care, including intake information, session notes, and treatment plans; and billing information, along with insurance details if you ask us to include them on your receipt.
We use your information to provide clinical care, schedule and manage appointments, communicate with you about your care, process billing and insurance claims, and respond to inquiries submitted through this website. We do not use your information for marketing or share it with third parties for their own purposes.
Clinical records and scheduling are managed through Jane, a Canadian-hosted practice management platform used by health providers across the country. Session records are retained in accordance with the record-keeping requirements of our regulatory colleges (NSCSW and NSCCT). Access to your file is limited to your treating clinician and, where applicable, clinical supervision and administrative staff involved in your care.
We follow Nova Scotia’s Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and the confidentiality standards of our regulatory colleges. What you share in session is kept private, with a small number of legal exceptions, including: risk of serious harm to yourself or another person, suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, and disclosure required by court order or law. These exceptions are reviewed with every client at the start of care, and with the parent or guardian of a client under 18 where they are involved.
We use Jane for scheduling, secure messaging, clinical records, and standard payment processing for session fees. If you ask us to bill your insurer directly, we share only what is needed to process the claim (your name and date of birth, your plan and member numbers, the date and type of service, the fee, and your clinician’s registration details) with your insurer through its direct billing platform: TELUS Health eClaims, Medavie Blue Cross, or GreenShield’s providerConnect. We do not share session notes or other clinical details with insurers. These providers are contractually required to protect your information and are used only to deliver services to you.
If you submit a message through this website, we store the information you provide (such as your name and contact details) only to respond to your inquiry. We do not use it for any other purpose without your consent.
This website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, so we can improve it. It collects information like your approximate location, browser type, and the pages you visit, and reports it to us only as totals, not as individual visitors. We’ve turned off Google’s advertising features, so this information isn’t used for ads or shared with other Google products. Nothing you type into our contact form is sent to Google Analytics. You can block analytics cookies through your browser settings; doing so won’t affect your ability to use the site.
We provide counselling to young people aged 13 and up. In Nova Scotia there is no fixed age of consent for health care: a young person who understands what therapy involves can consent to their own care, and where a parent or guardian is involved, we review consent with both at the start. A young person’s session content is kept private within the same legal limits that apply to every client, and we explain what parents will and won’t hear before care begins. This website’s contact form is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through it.
This website may contain links to other websites, such as our insurers or professional colleges. We aren’t responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party sites, and we encourage you to review their policies separately.
You may request access to your records, ask us to correct inaccurate information, or ask questions about how your information is used. To make a request, contact us at info@currenthealth.ca. If you have a concern we haven’t resolved, you may also contact the Nova Scotia Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner.
Current Health Collective is responsible for the personal information under its control and for compliance with this policy. Questions, requests, or complaints about our privacy practices can be directed to info@currenthealth.ca.
If you have questions about this policy or how your information is handled, contact us at info@currenthealth.ca.
